Editorial Policy
The standards we hold our content, our matching engine, and our commercial relationships to.
Last updated · April 2026
Authorship and review
Every plan summary, comparison note, and explainer on this site is written by a named editor and reviewed by at least one other team member before publication. Where the topic touches on insurance regulation or specific policy interpretation, the piece is additionally reviewed by a subject-matter expert. We are happy to share author and reviewer details for any specific piece on request.
Sourcing standards
Factual claims about a plan must be supported by either (a) the insurer's official policy wording or brochure, or (b) direct written confirmation from the insurer or their TPA. Marketing copy from agents, blog posts, and forum threads do not count as sources. Each verified attribute is logged with its source URL and verification date.
Corrections
We aim to correct verified factual errors within five business days. Material corrections (anything that could change a recommendation) are noted with a dated change log on the affected plan card. To report an error, write to corrections@backtoindia.com.
Commercial relationships and disclosure
BackToIndia may earn referral or partnership fees from some insurers or brokers when a visitor chooses to purchase a plan after using this site. Where any such relationship exists for a plan we surface, the relationship is disclosed:
- On the specific plan card in the results page.
- On the comparison view, alongside the price.
- In a public, dated list of partners maintained on this page.
Critically, commercial relationships do not influence whether a plan is shown, nor its rank. The engine's filtering and scoring rules are documented in our methodology and apply identically to all plans regardless of commercial arrangement. An editor with a conflict of interest on a particular insurer is recused from reviewing that insurer's content.
Current commercial partners
At the time of this update, BackToIndia has no active referral partnerships. If this changes, partners will be listed here with the date the relationship began.
Editorial independence
No insurer, broker, or third party reviews our content before publication. No insurer has the right to demand removal of accurate information about their own plan. If we receive such a request, we will say so on the plan card.
AI use
We use software (including large language models) to draft summaries, normalise plan data, and translate dense policy wording into plainer language. Every AI-assisted output is reviewed and approved by a human editor before it is published. Final responsibility for accuracy lies with the named editor, not the model.
Feedback
We take editorial complaints seriously. Write to editor@backtoindia.com and you will hear back from a person, not an autoresponder.
